This small newsagent on Mar Vale Road has applied to Birmingham’s Licensing Authority for an alcohol licence to sell alcohol from 10am up to 9pm Monday to Sunday.
The intention is that it should cease to be a newsagents and instead become a full blown off licence.
Your Conservative councillors have distributed leaflets inviting residents in the area to give their views on this proposed application. The leaflet informs residents that the councillors oppose this application and will attend the hearing on the 29th September to argue that;
- These premises are totally unsuitable to sell alcohol being so small and located in a residential area.
- It will encourage alcohol aggravated anti social behaviour around the area and in Cotteridge Park.
- If this licence is granted then Bournville will be diminished; no longer able to uniquely claim to be a ‘dry’ suburb.
So far hundreds have replied back to the Conservative councillors giving support to their opposition.
