Labour Plan To Close Tiverton Road Pool - Bournville Conservatives
franklin house;

Labour have been back in charge of Birmingham City Council for well over a year, and here they are again, closing swimming pools and leisure facilities.

At the Selly Oak District meeting on 18th July 2014, all Labour councillors present voted to recommend the closure of Tiverton Road Swimming Pool, with only Conservative and Liberal Democrats councillors voting to keep it open.

Labour has a long history of closing local swimming pools, just as it did with the Bournville Lane Baths 25 years ago, blighting Stirchley ever since.

Councillor Rob Sealey said, "This would be a terrible loss to our children and to the schools teaching our children to swim. Swimming pools are not like other facilities, they should be one of the very last things to close, not the first".

Councillors Rob Sealey and Timothy Huxtable spoke up forcibly for the retention of Linden Road instruction swimming pool and are pleased to inform residents the the District recommendation is for Linden Road instruction pool to stay open, however this decision could still be overturned when the final decision is made the the City Council Cabinet in October.
